Flash fiction by Tom (Year 5)

Flash Fiction inspired by the first and last lines of ‘The Demon Dentist’ by David Walliams.
Alfie hates going to the dentist. He actually never has been, he does not know what it is like. But most of his teeth are just black. Or on their way to pitch black, and falling out of his mouth. His dad always says he has to take him sometime. But his dad does not care. Alfie thinks he just says it to try and be a good parent. Plus his dad actually hates the dentist as well. Especially as they know that their dentist does not give him sweets if he went. When Alfie speaks to his friend when they go, they say she (the dentist) is very strict and mean. Alfie dreads the day he has to go…

SIX MONTHS LATER. The day is here, he has to go to the dentist. He is acting like his dad was born yesterday and uses the oldest trick in the book – being ill. His dad knows it is fake and drives him to the dentist. Then his dad picks him up and takes him to the waiting room and his name is called out ALFIE!!! He slowly gets up and edges his way to the dentist showing him to the room. Alfie has never been so scared. As he steps into the room he gets the feeling that a demon dentist is near! He gets in the chair, opens his mouth and the dentist, with all her might, rips out two teeth. He jumps out of the chair and runs. Him and his dad jumped on their motorbike and zoomed off. However, as they zoomed through the town and off into the distance, he closed his eyes.

Animation

It was a very busy day at Ashleigh Infants School. All the children had a go at either animating their name, creating a playdough alphabet or writing in the sand.

Animation

At Browick Road, the children set a flotilla of animal boats on the ocean to sail away.

Animation

Tacolneston School had just welcomed their go-go dragon. He experimented with different disguises before he gets his final decorations.

Introduction
I had never practised for the fight in two days and my friend had practised loads but not enough to beat a proper gladiator. Maybe enough to beat a lion?  I was scared, proper scared. I could not practice now because Mum needed my help. All I had to do was kill someone who was trained loads which would be very hard.

CHAPTER ONE
The big fight!
It was only 10mins till the fight and still I had not practised. I wanted to run but I did not because my Mum would miss me lots. Soon it was time. Me and my Mum set off to the arena,  “Mum I’m scared” I said.  “Don’t be sweet heart” (which is what she calls me sometimes). When we arrived I was terrified, I was walking in to the arena when I saw who it was I was fighting against, it was my friend! Would he kill me? I asked myself. Well, anyway I was calming down but I was still a bit scared.  I moved around the arena waving my sword and so did my friend. Soon I had blood dripping from my lip and my foot. After a while I was laying on the floor with my friend about to chop me in half …..suddenly I was pulled underground…

I could hear the loud shouting …I was really excited but scared, I walk in smelling blood from where the other slaves have been fighting. I am looking at the person who I’m going to fight, he is a huge, strong and also he looks rough and ready. I pull my sword out and… I can taste my dry mouth; it is like a hot desert!! I can hardly breathe I can also hear the crowd shouting Matildus, “Get on with it then” shouts Caesar!  I am so worried I could escape. That’s what I’m going to do. I run as fast as I can. Caesar shouts:  “Stop her!”  I run out and I can barely breathe, again I can see some of Caesars guards in the distance …I wish I never was born!

Chapter 1
The great escape

One sunny day in Milan (so people thought) in the great amphitheatre the gladiators fought, my name Galactus and I guess you’re here for the stories of my adventures. So I was about to enter the arena when I heard an army of noises right outside the walls. I did not really care but what I did not know was those people who were shouting were the key to my escape. I was facing the best gladiator Deanicos, then before the fight a flaming fire ball hit the centre of the arena I said to Deanicos ‘’let’s get out of here.’’ We went flying to the gate and with our maces we knocked down the gates and made a run for it.

Chapter 2
The journey

We got are horses and we made our way into Asia and enter Mongolia to join the hoard of Genghis khan. When we got to the border of Milan’s territory we looked back at the gate to see men that looked like barbarians attacking the walls. We made our way to the Alps. When we had passed the we ended up in France Deanicos said ‘’are we going to Paris’’ I said ‘’no we are going to Mongolia’’ so we travelled through Germany, Poland and a few other countries until we reached Mongolia and saw a big wooden building with lots of yurts. ‘’This is it the home of the hoard of Genghis khan’’ I said, a man came to us he said he was Genghis khan. We  bowed when he said that, ‘’who are you’’ he said: ‘’we are former roman gladiators’’ said Deanicos, ‘’we are here to join you.’’ I said ‘’alright prepare to attack Persia!’’Genghis said ‘’send a message to Subatoi saying attack Russia’’ said Genghis. ‘’Yes’’ trembled the messenger so we marched to Persia.

Chapter 3
The raid of Persia

So we marched to Persia with an army of hundreds. We smashed through the gates with our great trebuchet and we attacked the houses and got the trebuchet to the castle to knock it down. We got their riches and travelled back to Mongolia, but, what we found when we got back were piles of rubble. ‘’The Kara Katai have come back’’said a spearman. ‘’I know’’ grumbled the great khan ‘’ who are the Kara katai’’ said Deanicos ‘’ they are a civilization ruled by kushluk’’ said a solider.

Chapter 4
The search for kushluk

When subatoi retuned Genghis said ‘’where are your men’’ subatoi reply was ‘’the evil Kara kitai ambushed us me and this spearman, the spearman said ‘’it was brutal’’. So we marched through the rocky cliffs in till we saw the home of the Kara kitai
