Grasshopper
Quixote’s Adventure
Once upon a time Grasshopper Quixote
lived in a kitchen with his friend Minnie the mixing bowl. One day a spoon fell
on Grasshopper Quixote’s head. When he woke up the kitchen had disappeared and
he found himself standing on a hill looking at a castle. Locked in the tower by
the bad knight and the naughty elves, was Grasshopper Quixote’s pet dog Pitch.
Grasshopper Quixote and his friend Minnie
the mixing bowl had to fight the big bad knight with swords and shields. They
were very tired but their armour kept them safe. When they got to the tower
they climbed up the dog’s tongue. It was very slippery and they got very
sticky. They rescued Pitch and set off back home.
Suddenly Grasshopper Quixote woke up and
found himself back in the kitchen with Minnie. He had been dreaming and the
castle, hill and all of the knights had gone. As he looked around the kitchen
he spotted his own castle made out of the spaghetti jar, ketchup bottle and
salad cream bottle. Grasshopper Quixote smiled. Now he could have a new
adventure with his friend Minnie every day.
Shared writing by Alfie, Evie, Tilly, Charlie and Noah aged 4 & 5 from
Squirrel Class.
The children had been told the story of
Mouse Quixote, who had been on a quest with his friend Sancho the egg timer.
They retold the story several times using story pegs. In groups the children
made up their own stories based around the original structure.
